Xiaomi Just Announced a 55-Inch Transparent OLED TV, and it Looks Stunning
Apart from the Redmi K30 Ultra and Mi 10 Ultra, Xiaomi also announced a transparent TV. Yes, you’ve read that right.
Named the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition, it’s the world’s first transparent OLED TV that’s mass-produced. More of a visual element than a practical solution, it’s got the appearance of a clear window, making images look like they’re floating.
The device uses a 55-inch OLED panel and boasts a 150,000:1 contrast ratio, 10-bit color output, and 93% DCI-P3 coverage. It’s got a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1ms pixel response time. Design-wise, you get a 5.7mm thick frame and a circular base.
Powering the devices is a custom MediaTek 9650 SoC with Xiaomi’s AI Smart Master Engine image processing that delivers over 20 optimization algorithms and dedicated optimization for 5 usage scenarios.
There’s also Dolby Atmos and AI Master for audio, which can intelligently adjust the audio mode depending on what content is being played.
Software-wise, Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition runs a custom version of MIUI for TV to take advantage of the transparent display. The Always-On display mode also enables the TV to show text and images even when it’s not in use.
Of course, such technology entails a high price. The TV costs RMB 49,999.
