Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 is the First 4-Series 5G Chipset
Qualcomm has just announced the first 5G-ready chipset in the budget-friendly 4-series – the Snapdragon 480. The new chipset is a successor to the Snapdragon 460 that was released last year.
The Snapdragon 480 is built on the 8nm process and has an integrated Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system that supports both mmWave and Sub-6 GHz networks.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 supports up to 120Hz refresh rates with up to FHD+ resolution. In addition, it also supports 64MP camera sensors and 1080p recording at 60fps.
It also packs the Qualcomm Spectra 345 ISP which supports simultaneous capture from up to three camera sensors. It supports SA and NSA 5G modes, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
The new SoC is expected to debut on entry-level 5G smartphones from brands like vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, Motorola, and Nokia in Q1 of 2021.
