Facebook Announces Soundbites, Podcasts, and Other Audio Features

Facebook has announced that it will introduce new audio features onto the platform including podcasts and Soundbites.

Facebook has mentioned that it will build a set of new audio creation tools to support the new audio features. It has invested in audio technologies like speech-to-text and voice morphing. You can also improve audio quality even when recording on a busy street thanks to the company’s advancements in AI.

Facebook Soundbites

Soundsbites is a short-form, creative audio clips for capturing a variety of things like anecdote, jokes, and moments of inspiration, etc.

Facebook has said that it will start testing Soundbites over the next few months with a small number of creators to refine the product. To start, it will collaborate with creators to experiment with different concepts. Some these include Drew Lynch sharing short rants and food review in ASMR, Lolo Spencer reciting daily affirmations and her favorite inspirational quotes, and Josh Sundquist using voice effects to augment his impersonations and storytelling, to name a few.

Facebook podcasts

In addition, the social media platform will introduce podcasts. With more than 170 million people connected to hundreds of thousands of podcast pages on Facebook and more than 35 million are members, it makes sense to keep the users on the platform to listen to their favorite podcasts. This can be done with the app running or even when in the background.

The company has also mentioned that it will make it easy for you to find new podcasts and episodes based on your interests and be able to comment and recommend them to your friends.

Live Audio Rooms in Facebook and Messenger

Facebook will also test Live Audio Rooms and is expected to be available for everyone on the app by summer. Audio will be a new way for communities to engage around topics they care about.

The company also plans to release the feature on Messenger this summer.
