Huawei Mate X2 Impresses in JerryRigEverything Durability Test
Huawei launched its latest foldable – the Huawei Mate X2 in February and it was just a matter of time before it faced the YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s Durability Test.
The Huawei Mate X2 went through the typical durability test which includes a scratch test, a burn test, and a bend test, but in addition to these, being a foldable device, Zack of JerryRigEverything put the hinge to a sand test as well.
First the scratch test, unsurprisingly, the outer screen showed scratches at level 6 and 7 on the Mohs hardness scale being a glass panel. The inner panel though, as it is plastic, had visible scratches at level 2 and deeper grooves at level 3. Zack even showed that you can leave scratches with your fingernails.
On the burn test, the displays are exposed to an open flame. The outer display survived for 25 seconds before the area went white and stayed that way permanently. The inner panel, on the other hand, only lasted 10 seconds until the section turned black and didn’t recover as well.
Lastly, the bend test, which in 2021 can be considered dreaded after two gaming phones had already failed it. This, however, isn’t the case for the new Huawei foldable. The Huawei Mate X2 held up when folded, folded inward, and outward. In the last test, you can clearly see how much force Zack was exerting to truly test the hinge of the phone and yet it didn’t budge.
All in all, it looks to be a quite an impressively built device based on the durability test.
