Nvidia Officially Announces GeForce RTX 30 Lite Hash Rate GPUs

After almost a month-long of rumors and leaks, Nvidia has finally confirmed the existence of gimped hash rate RTX 30 series graphics cards. Starting in late May or Early June 2021, Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs will come with a hash rate limiter similar to the one found on the RTX 3060.

Nvidia decided to cripple the hash rate of newly manufactured RTX 30 series GPUs to help get the GeForce GPUs in the hands of gamers. Similar to the RTX 3060, the newly manufactured RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti will have a fifty-percent reduced Ethereum hash rate. For reference, the RTX 3080 has an average hash rate of 96-100MH/s while the RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti have an average hash rate of 60-64MH/s depending on the model. In a separate post, Nvidia clarified that the future Founders Edition of the RTX 30 series graphics card won’t have the hash rate limiter. Moreover, the RTX 3090 and its AIB versions are not included in the LHR treatment.

Nvidia ensures full transparency with the GeForce products that are sold in the market by labeling the new GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 Ti cards with a “Lite Hash Rate” or “LHR” identifier. According to Nvidia, the identifier will be present in both the retail box and product listing name.

We haven’t seen any Lite Hash Rate cards being sold in local stores yet but Galax has already announced their LHR GPUs. Stocks for the new GeForce RTX Graphics Cards are expected to arrive in the country around mid to end of June 2021.

There is no official confirmation that the rumored upcoming RTX 3080 Ti will come with a Hash Rate Limiter as well.
