From the P9 to the Mate 40, there’s no denying that the partnership between Huawei and Leica has paved the way for some of the best smartphones for mobile photography. Unfortunately, things are about to change for the smartphone brand.
A tipster has revealed that the contract between the two brands has expired with no renewal in sight (for now), and the P50 will be the last product that will bear the Leica branding. Is this due to the effects of the US Sanction? we don’t know. What we do know is this creates a big opportunity for other brands to forge a partnership with Leica, and it looks like Xiaomi, Sharp, and Gionee are in line. No specifics yet, but watch out.
Huawei has an upcoming event this month where it’ll allegedly showcase a ton of new products – from smartphones to IoT devices, including a new smartwatch, a weighing scale, a Smart TV, and TWS Earbuds. There’s also a possibility of a 16-inch MateBook and even a new tablet.
