Microsoft has announced a launch event for the next version of Windows on June 24 at 11 PM, Philippine Time.
Prior to the announcement, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hinted at the update at the recent Microsoft Build conference. Additionally, he said, “We will create more opportunity for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build and distribute and monetize applications.”
The latter is likely in relation to a rumored update of the Windows Store that is said to make it easier for developers to push apps to users.
Moreover, Nadella promised that the next Windows version is going to be the biggest update to Windows in over a decade. This is a pretty big claim. The last decade includes the launch of Windows 8 and Windows 10. The former, at the time, was considered the biggest change to Windows. While it wasn’t the most successful update, Microsoft did use much of the changes from Windows 8 in Windows 10.
The update is said to be codenamed Sun Valley. However, not much else is known about it as of writing it. Either way, we’re pretty excited to see what the company has to offer for its update though.
