3 Things You Should Know before Investing in CryptoBlades

A lot of Filipinos have been going crazy about the earning (and losing) potential of NFT P2E games in the Philippines. Most of these games like Axie Infinity, My Defi Pet, and Cryptoblades can be played anywhere you are, and it gives a high level of comfort especially to people who are mobile.

These games are not for everyone, and we definitely cannot blame people who are against play-to-earn games. I, as an example, did not want to try these games because I was busy and I did not fully understand their long-term value. Everything changed when my brother and I bought an ABP Axie Infinity team. It was a hefty investment, but I believed that it would be a good intellectual investment for me to understand the game and to grasp the value of NFT/Cryptocurrency games in our content line-up. I will never look back because it has been paying off, and we managed to help some people understand how these games work. In this article, allow me to share with you some of the things that I learned, which may somehow help you in your P2E journey, particularly CryptoBlades. Some of the things in the list may also be applicable in some P2E games, so I encourage you to keep them in mind.

Do not sell your assets or take out a massive loan just to fund P2E

Funding P2E games is one of the basic requirements before you can start playing. One of the biggest mistakes of people who are engaging in NFT or DEFI games is they are risking everything they’ve got to raise a capital. CrytoBlades is neither the only basket you need to put your eggs in, nor the “investment” that you should rely on when you have not even funded your savings portfolio.

The cost of recruiting, forging, and reforging in CryptoBlades is anchored on the price of $SKILL and the synched algorithm of Oracle. If you missed our previous article. Oracle is basically CryptoBlades’ tool in making the game’s economy fair and square. It isn’t a perfect solution (yet), but the developers are doing everything they can keep the economy of the game healthy for old, new and incoming gamers. In this regard, the cost of putting up a team in CryptoBlades is highly dynamic and volatile. It wasn’t too long ago when one would need about PhP25K to PhP30K to form a team. At $55/$SKILL, you can now start a team for just $100 or PhP5,000. If you don’t have PhP5,000 investible fund (something you can afford to lose), we suggest not take out a loan because of two reasons:

  • Your ROI (Return on Investment) will move everytime the price of $SKILL changes.
  • You may have irrecoverable loss of your investment if the value of $SKILL plunges, which lead to you not being able to pay off your loan.
$SKILL earned using 200 Stamina of a level 23 character with 4 star-weapon

If you’re going to use your credit card, we suggest that you use an envelope system that already locks in your payment when your bill arrives. Just make sure that the money you’ll keep will entirely be used to payoff your credit card due.

Understand what you are getting into

Taking a risk to understand how it works definitely has merits. We respect people who would want to try things to become immersed with experience, and learn in the process. However, you need to consider the risk and the amount of investment you are willing to use in this learning process.

As a game anchored on cryptocurrency, CryptoBlades is not for the faint of heart. It is best to read and learn the value of the blockchain, the game’s blockchain protocol, its whitepaper, and governance token before you invest in it. Know what the token is solely used for, and the values that can be derived from it over time. Have an inquisitive mind before investing, but remain a positive outlook and provide constructive criticism, if needed.

Compute ROI and earning potential before deciding to invest in CryptoBlades

One of the things that I am frequently asked about is if CryptoBlades is a good investment. Here’s a quick answer: YES. A qualifier, however, needs to be set so my full answer goes like this.

CryptoBlades’ duration of ROI is drastically dictated by how Oracle adjusts the economy based on the price of $SKILL. As of tthis writing, the oracle is not fully live yet and it is adjusting its price based on the very recent price of $SKILL. If the developers make Oracle work, it is supposed to increase the price of recruitment, forging and reforging, but lower $SKILL yield per match when the market price of $SKILL goes up. It is supposed to decrease the price of recruitment, firing and reforing, but will increase $SKILL yield per match when the market price of $SKILL goes down. As of this writing, due to the state of Oracle, $SKILL yield is a little low, which is why the developers are manually tweaking/fix the game economy.

Here’s a sample computation of how much you will spend and earn as of this writing.

EXPENSES

Price of $SKILL (as of 3:29PM, 7/30/2021) USD56.64
Cost of Recruitment 0.4067
Cost of Forging 0.1252
Cost of reforging 0.0088
USD to PHP PhP50.00

4 Characters/1 Weapon: 1.752 x $56.64 = PhP4,961.00

Formula Cost
4 Characters 4 x .4067 1.6268
1 Weapon 1 x .1252 0.1252
TOTAL 1.752
Price still excludes gas fees.

4 Characters/4 Weapons: 2.1276 x $120.50 = PhP6,025.36

Formula Cost
4 Characters 4 x .4067 1.6268
1 Weapon 4 x .1252 0.5008
TOTAL 2.1276
Price still excludes gas fees.

POTENTIAL EARNING

Price of $SKILL (as of 3:29PM, 7/30/2021) 56.64
Price of $BNB (as of 3:29PM, 7/30/2021) 319.36
Gas Fee per Match (BNB) 0.000827
Potential Earning Per 40 Stamina Match 0.0148
Potential Earning Per 200  Stamina Match 0.054786

Earning per day if you only use 40 stamina per character (4 Character setup): PhP803.72/Day

Matches every 16 hours Potential Earning Per 40 Stamina Match Earning per day ($SKILL) Gross Earning per day (USD) Total Gas Fee per day (BNB) Total Gas Fee per day (USD) Net Earning per day (USD) Net Earning per day (PHP)

At Oracle’s current state, you get more earning if you only use 40 Stamina per character.

Earning per day if you only use 200 stamina per character (4 Character setup): PhP567.73/Day

Matches every 16 hours Potential Earning Per 200 Stamina Match Earning per day ($SKILL) Gross Earning per day (USD) Total Gas Fee per day (BNB) Total Gas Fee per day (USD) Net Earning per day (USD) Net Earning per day (PHP)

At Oracle’s current state, you get less earnings if you only use 200 Stamina per character compared to using 40 stamina per character. This may be attributed to the convenience fee as you don’t need to spend longer time in the game. This is helpful if you manage more than one team

ROI Duration for 4C/1W with the assumption that the price of $SKILL will not move at the time of withdrawal: Using 40 Stamina Per Character, you’ll have to count around 6.1 days. Using 200 Stamina Per Character, you’ll have to count 8.7 days. It is best to take it out on the 7th day assuming that you started staking on the first day.

ROI Duration for 4C/4W with the assumption that the price of $SKILL will not move at the time of withdrawal: Using 40 Stamina Per Character, you’ll have to count around 4.95 days. Using 200 Stamina Per Character, you’ll have to count 10.61 days. It is best to take it out on the 7th day assuming that you started staking on the first day.

While the price of $SKILL has gone done a bit, this is the best time to accumulate as much SKILL as you can.

There you have it! Those are the three things that you should know and remember before investing in CryptoBlades. Note that the amount above will vary and change over time. The level of your character and weapon used will also affect the price of your $SKILL yield. Take time to monitor as much as possible. This is a very good exercise in monitoring your “own business” at home. Just remember, CrytoBlades is anchored on NFT and cryptocurrency. It is a highly volatile form of investment. Investing in Cryptocurrency is VERY risky. If you do not know what you are getting into, putting your money in cryptocurrency exchange is not something I will recommend. Build your savings, buy insurance, pay off your existing loans, buy things that are essential and invest the rest.
