MediaTek has just unveiled the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T chipset, the company’s latest SoC for tablets and ARM-powered laptops. It is a major upgrade over the Kompanio 1200 announced in November last year and said to match the Dimensity 1200.
The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T is built on the TSMC 6nm node and features an octa-core processor with Cortex-A78 cores and A55 cores. It upgrades its predecessor’s Mali-G57 MC5 GPU to a nine-core Mali-G77 MC9.
The new tablet SoC comes with an integrated 5G modem that supports sub-6GHz bands and dual-SIM as well as channel carrier aggregation.
Additionally, the 1300T supports two 1080p displays. With a single display, it supports up to 1440p resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ video playback. It can also support up to 108MP sensors and record 4K video at 60fps.
The new chipset has an API that features “AI Picture Quality” and voice commands. It also features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support.
The first tablets powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T will be unveiled in this quarter.
Alongside the Kompanio 1300T, the company also announced the MediaTek T750, a 5G chipset for Consumer-Premises Equipment. It is built on the 7nm process and features a quad-core Cortex-A55 core at 2.0Ghz. Moreover, it has a 5G modem, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, a GPU for an external display, and hardware acceleration for routers.
