According to leakster DigitalChatStation, Huawei is working on a 90W wired fast-charging system.
Currently, the company’s SuperCharge tops out at 66W and launched alongside the Mate 40 series. The SuperCharge 66W charging was also supported by the nova 8i which fully charged the 4300mAh battery in 38 minutes.
The Huawei P50 series has already been certified by 3C with 66W charging. This, however, is the LTE-only Snapdragon 888 powered version so maybe we can see the new fast charging technology with the 5G variant.
The P50 series is rumored to be the only flagship series from the company this year which means the 5G variant could be the only device to feature the 90W fast charging. We’ll find out soon enough especially with the launch expected to be on July 29.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the company mention higher-capacity charging though. Huawei Consumer Business CEO, Richard Yu mentioned during the Mate 40 launch that it has tested 120W and 200W charging but because of battery capacity concerns, they decided not to launch it. Additionally, the company received certification for a 135W charger as well.
