Apple has just announced the refreshed iPad and iPad Mini with an A13 Bionic Chip and an A15 Bionic SoC, respectively. Alongside new members of the family, the company unveiled the Apple Watch series 7 and the iPhone 13.
iPad
The new 10.2-inch iPad has a Retina display with True Tone and a 12MP ultra-wide front camera with Center Stage.
The A13 Bionic chip is said to offer a 20% performance boost over its predecessor and 3x faster than the best-selling Chromebook. Additionally, its Neural Engine enables Live Text coming in iPad OS 15 that uses on-device intelligence to recognize text in a photo. The new chip is coupled with 64/256GB storage.
The popular device also now supports the 1st generation Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard.
iPad mini
The iPad mini, on the other hand, has a larger 8.3-inch all-screen Liquid Retina display with True Tone. Touch ID has also been introduced to the top button of the iPad mini. Additionally, it supports the 2nd generation Apple Pencil that attaches magnetically to the iPad mini for wireless charging and pairing.
Upfront, it features a 12MP ultra-wide camera with Center Stage, while around the back, it has a 12MP sensor with Focus Pixels. The rear camera is also joined by a True Tone flash to assist in low-light photography.
The A15 Bionic chip packs a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU which delivers a 40% jump in CPU performance and 80% leap in graphics performance. It also has a 16-core Neural Engine that allows advanced machine learning. Similar to its larger sibling, the mini has 64/256GB storage options to accompany the new chipset.
It is also equipped with a USB-C port at the bottom as well as 5G and Wi-Fi 6 support.
Price and availability
The new iPad is available in Silver and Space Gray colorways and starts at PHP 19,990. Meanwhile, the new iPad mini is available in Space Gray, Pink, Purple, and Starlight colors starting at PHP 29,990.
