Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro Now Official

Google has just unveiled the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, the company’s first phones powered by Google Tensor chipset and run on Android 12 out of the box.

Google Tensor is the company’s custom SoC built to help with efficiency as well as with AI tasks. The new CPU of the new SoC features two high-performance cores, two mid cores, and four high-efficiency cores. This is accompanied by a 20-core GPU.

Thanks to the new SoC, the Pixel 6 is said to be 80% faster in CPU performance and be 370% in GPU performance than the Pixel 5.

With the chipset out of the way, let’s get to the devices themselves. The Pixel 6 is built around a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while its Pro sibling has a 6.7-inch QHD+ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Housed in the unique camera bar at the back are a shared 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The Pro features a third 48MP telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom.

The company boasts a couple of new camera features on the Pixel 6 series like Magic Eraser, Face Unblur, and Motion Mode. Magic Eraser helps clear out distractions in the photo with a few taps. This includes unwanted objects and strangers. Face Unblur takes two photos using the main and ultra-wide cameras and then combines the photos to lessen blurred faces. Lastly, Motion Mode brings movement to your shots. All of these are done with the help of AI learning.

The Pixel 6 comes with 128GB storage, while the Pro comes with 128/256GB storage options.

The two devices are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and are water and dust-resistant. Meanwhile, for hardware and software level protection, they have a Titan M2 security. Moreover, Google has committed five years of security updates and three years of major OS updates for both devices.

Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro pricing and availability

The Google Pixel 6 is available in Stormy Black, Kinda Coral, and Sorta Seafoam colorways, and the lone 128GB option goes for USD 599. Meanwhile, the Pixel 6 Pro comes in Stormy Black, Cloudy White, and Sorta Sunny colors. The 128GB option is priced at USD 899 while doubling the storage will set you back USD 999.

The duo is now available for pre-order and will officially hit the shelves starting October 28.
