Apple Confirmed to Launch iPhones with USB-C

Apple will soon launch iPhones with USB-C ports. This comes after the EU passed the mandate making the USB-C port the standard for devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing said that “Obviously we’ll have to comply, we have no choice”

Apple’s response to the EU Mandate

The mandate in the EU (and also in Brazil) will be enforced starting in 2024 forcing the company to abide by the law if it wants to sell iPhones in the region.

For customers, this means that you will only need a single USB-C cable to charge all your devices making it more convenient.

However, Apple is not too enthusiastic with the mandate and said “We think the approach would’ve been better environmentally, and better for our customers, for the governments to not be that prescriptive,” said Joswiak

The American company has not released any statement regarding the exact time it will implement this on its products.
