Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi Note 12 series comprised of the Redmi Note 12, Note 12 Pro, Note 12 Pro+, and the Redmi Note 12 Explorer. Read up on the first three members of the series in our previous article here.
Despite not having the Pro in its name, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer is actually the Note 12 Pro+ but with a smaller battery capacity and almost double the charging speed.
Some of the specs it shares with the Pro+ include the 200MP main ISOCELL HPX triple camera setup, a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the Dimensity 1080 chipset.
The battery of the Note 12 Explorer though is downgraded to a 4300mAh battery cell compared to the 5000mAh battery on its Pro siblings. But the Explorer bumps up the charging speed to a whopping 210W charging speed.
The fast charging speed tops up the 4300mAh battery from 0-100% in just 9 minutes. The company mentioned at the launch that it has 60 safety features to assure that charging is safe. Here are some highlights and features of the 210W charging technology.
Xiaomi keeps the voltage low at 20V and splits the power into three channels of 20V at 3.5A. The charger itself uses GaN technology which allows the company to pack this in a pretty small charger that measures 67.3 x 64.3 x 30mm.
Meanwhile, the included 1m cable has an E-mark chip to assure that it will only charge at 210W with a charger with the E-mark chip.
If you do decide to charge other devices with the 210W charger, it will offer a standard 65W speed.
