Qualcomm has officially unveiled the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 with better performance and power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
Before we get to the details, yes, Qualcomm did skip the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 altogether and yes, there is no Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 yet, as of writing this.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2
The main Kryo CPU core of the latest Plus chipset is clocked at 2.91GHz and the 1+3+4 CPU core setup is said to offer a 50% performance increase over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
The GPU boasts a 2x performance increase as well but the exact Adreno model wasn’t revealed.
Additionally, the Qualcomm AI Engine onboard offers 2x better performance and 40% savings per watt.
Other features include:
- Auto Variable Rate Shading that renders foreground gaming scenes
- Volumetric Rendering which debuted on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
- Upgraded 18-bit Triple ISP for better low-light photography
- Support for up to 200MP sensors
- Support for HDR video capture with triple exposure from two cameras simultaneously
- Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System with up to 4.4 Gbps download
Qualcomm revealed that we can expect to see Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2-powered devices as early as this month.
