Meta Lays Off 4,000 Employees in Latest Job Cuts

It looks like Meta isn’t done with its layoffs as reports have surfaced that the company has started cutting off around 4,000 employees after it cut around 11,000 workers last year.

This time around, employees with technical experience such as software engineering, graphics programming, and user experience, to name a few.

CNBC confirmed via a Meta spokesperson that the cuts have already started. Meanwhile, an employee hit by the moves told the publication that Meta has plans to cut more people specifically in finance, legal, and HR next month.

Company CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously mentioned the downsizing and restructuring of its workforce in a statement last month.

We expect to announce restructurings and layoffs in our tech groups in late April, and then our business groups in late May,” he said in the statement. Overall, we expect to reduce our team size by around 10,000 people and to close around 5,000 additional open roles that we haven’t yet hired.”
