Samsung Allegedly Losing Exclusivity to the Fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chipset

Samsung has been given the sole opportunity to equip its premium phones with the most powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy version. This debuted alongside the Galaxy S23 series.

Now, according to the tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung’s exclusivity on the faster chipset may be coming to an end.

For a quick refresher, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy offers enhanced performance compared to the standard version. It features higher peak CPU and GPU clock speeds, with the CPU receiving a 5% boost in frequency from 3.2GHz to 3.36GHz.

Moreover, the GPU also sees a 5.7% increase in clock speed, going from 680MHz to 719MHz. and there are indications that the chip’s AI capabilities have also been slightly improved.

The brands that’ll be launching phones with the second generation Snapdragon flagship chipset have not been announced yet. However, it is believed that ASUS, OnePlus, and Xiaomi may be developing devices with this chipset based on their past release patterns.

With that said, it is not really a big jump from its vanilla counterpart compared to some existing flagship phones this year but you can definitely look forward to having more choices from other phone manufacturers soon.
