Taiwan Extends Visa-free Entry for Filipinos for Another Year

Taiwan recently announced that the visa-free entry policy for the Philippines is being extended for another year starting from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. This is to help revive pre-pandemic tourism figures.

Taiwan – Philippines Visa-Free Entry Policy

Chow highlighted the potential of strengthening the tourism exchanges between the two countries with an increase in demand for leisure travel after the strict lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the first quarter alone of 2023, 60,723 Filipinos visited Taiwan country since it reopened its borders in October 13, 2023.

The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that it will continue to review and tune its visa policies to ensure border and public security while also attracting more visitors.

Previously, the Philippines was included in the visa-free entry policy for a nine-month trial period that spanned from November 2017 to July 2018. This allowed Filipinos to stay for up to 14 days. It has since been updated to a yearly period.

While you won’t need a visa to enter the country, you will need to be able to show the following:

  • proof of accommodation
  • contact details of the host or sponsor
  • sufficient travel funds

Additionally, under you are allowed to stay for up to 14 days.
