Xiaomi has just officially confirmed on Weibo that it will introduce the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 in August with Leica cameras.

Based on the teaser poster post, Xiaomi’s latest foldable will feature what they dub the “Leica Optical Full Focal Quad Camera”. This means we can expect four cameras on the next foldable compared to the triple sensor setup in its predecessors like the Mi Mix Fold 2.
Triple rear cameras are pretty much the ‘norm’ in the foldable market including devices like the vivo X Fold2, Google Pixel Fold, and the recently released Galaxy Z Fold5.
However, that’s not to say that there aren’t quad-camera foldables in the market. Xiaomi will be joining the 2021 Huawei Mate X2 which offers a 50MP main, 16MP Cine, 12MP Telephoto, and 8MP SuperZoom cameras.
Going back to the MIX Fold 3, the company also teased innovations like miniaturized OIS motors and miniaturized periscope telephoto modules, all within a thin and light body.
While this is all nice and hype, especially for foldable fans out there, Xiaomi has yet to introduce the Mix Fold series internationally. Could the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 be the first one that makes it out of China? We’re uncertain, we’ll just have to wait and see.
