Aputure Reinforces Commitment to Philippine Film Industry with Storm Series and NOVA II Launch
Global lighting leader Aputure has raised the bar for professional film production in the Philippines with the recent launch of its flagship STORM Series and the upgraded NOVA II lighting systems. Unveiled during an immersive event in Quezon City on November 18, 2025, these cutting-edge products are set to redefine standards in local filmmaking by offering advanced lighting technology alongside huge support for the creative community.
The launch event, dubbed “The STORM Has Come,” brought together the country’s leading cinematographers, including Le Briones-Meily, Neil Daza, and Noel Tehankee, as well as key Aputure executives such as Yssa Valdes, Regional Brand Developer for the Philippines, and Marco Lazaro, Community and Social Lead for Asia-Pacific. The event served not only as a product showcase but also as a creative forum dedicated to discussing the impact of lighting on cinematic storytelling. Hosted by actress Sue Prado, the forum emphasized collaboration and education—values deemed essential by Aputure in nurturing the next generation of Filipino visual storytellers.
Aputure is committed to support filmmakers in the Philippines
In an interview, Mr. Frank Cao, Aputure’s Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific, shared insights on the brand’s ongoing efforts to support the Philippine film industry. “Every frame tells a story, and light is what gives that story life. We’re honored to be part of the Philippines’ vibrant creative scene and to support the professionals who continue to raise the bar for cinematography,” Cao affirmed.
When we asked about Aputure’s concrete initiatives, Cao explained, “We conduct workshops and hold customer-service discussions tailored to filmmakers. This ensures that local creators have access to both technical expertise and hands-on experience with our equipment.” Such programs have been pivotal in strengthening the skillset of the local community, while fostering a culture of excellence around cinematic lighting technology.
STORM Series
The STORM Series debuts with industry-leading features, including enhanced color fidelity, greater output efficiency, and heightened flexibility for both studio and on-location shoots. Meanwhile, the NOVA II brings upgraded soft light control, designed for both independent filmmakers and larger production houses. Powered by a revolutionary light engine—the advanced BLAIR and BLAIR-CG modules—these systems promise highly accurate color reproduction and superior performance sought by professionals worldwide.

NOVA II
Cao also addressed one of the most anticipated concerns regarding the NOVA II: pricing. “The NOVA II goes for $3,690. Retailers in the Philippines are yet to announce the local price,” he stated. He further noted that consumers and industry insiders should stay tuned for updates as soon as official Philippine retail prices are available for both the NOVA II and Storm Series. This competitive pricing, coupled with Aputure’s reputation for delivering affordable, high-end LED lighting solutions, marks a significant development in making premium cinematic gear more accessible to local filmmakers.
