Samsung has just launched the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and the latest Galaxy Buds4 series at its first Galaxy Unpacked of 2026. The Galaxy S26 series is headlined by the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and joined by the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra stands as the most unique device of the series with a Qualcomm chipset, Privacy Display, and S Pen support, among other features.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is built around a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
This year’s Ultra device also debuts with a Privacy Display that blocks visibility from those around you with its limited side-angle visibility. This feature can be toggled on or off, as well as set to only specific apps like social media or banking apps.
Around the back, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 200MP f/1.4 main camera joined by a 50MP f/1.9 ultrawide lens, a 50MP f/2.9 5x periscope telephoto shooter, and a 10MP f/2.4 3x telephoto snapper. The company has also improved Nightography to deliver better photos in low-light conditions thanks to its larger sensor size.
Samsung has also upgraded the Photo Assist suite with features that allow you to switch the scene from day to night or tidy up a spill on your clothing. Edits can now be made continuously, reviewed step by step, and adjusted or undone along the way.
For videos, there’s Super Steady Video Mode, which locks your footage horizontally for shake-free videos even in the shakiest situations. Samsung has also offered Audio Eraser to third-party apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Instagram, so you can hear conversations in your shows and movies much better.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is also the only device in the series to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset with higher clock speeds for its cores. The new chipset is reported to offer up to 19% better CPU performance, up to 24% improved GPU performance, and up to 39% boost in AI experience than its predecessor. It is coupled with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also has a redesigned Vapor Chamber with thermal interface material to keep the chipset and the device cool.
In addition to these hardware upgrades, Samsung has also shared AI-powered features like Call Screening, which prescreens your calls and transcribes what the caller says.
The Now Brief feature now also provides a personalized summary of the day, like schedules and expiring coupons. Meanwhile, Now Nudge offers real-time suggestions like meeting and suggesting alternative times by scanning calendars and notifications.
Screenshots are also now organized into specific categories and tags with the source website. The Galaxy S26 Ultra now also supports Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity. Additionally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra still has the S Pen housed below.
