Is Apple Working on a Foldable iPhone?
It looks like Apple will be joining the foldable device market soon after two of its foldable prototypes passed the Foxconn durability test according to a report from UDN.
The report reveals that Apple has passed two distinct foldable devices through the durability test. The variants feature a horizontal and vertical folding mechanism similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip.
It was also clarified that it was only the chassis and display components that were tested and were not fully functional. In addition, it is said that Apple will evaluate both designs and pick one of the two to go forward with.
It is uncertain when the foldable iPhone will be launched but it is expected to be seen in 2022 with a possible iOS/iPadOS hybrid software.
The report is unconfirmed as of writing, so do take this with a grain of salt.
