HTC has just announced the Vive Flow, its latest VR headset. The new headset is lightweight at 189g and worn like a pair of glasses and pairs with your smartphone.
The Flow has dual 1600x1600px displays with a 75Hz refresh rate and a 100-degree field of vision. The headset itself has a built-in fan that pulls air from around your face and pushes the warm air out the top.
Additionally, they feature dual built-in speakers and dual microphones with echo and noise cancellation.
The new headset is equipped with adjustable focus lenses on each side of the headset so you can see clearly without the need for corrective lenses. The company mentioned a dual-hinge system that adjusts the headset to fit your head. This is in addition to the hinges that allow you to fold the headset for storage.
Moreover, the VR headset has two forward-facing cameras that work as a passthrough video feed so you can be aware of your surroundings.
For controls, you connect it to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and Miracast and use the Vive app. The app supports a virtual remote to use a pointer or scroll pad on the headset.
The Vive Flow is priced at USD 499 and is now available for pre-order. If you do decide to pre-order, it comes with a soft carrying case and free VR content. Meanwhile, shipments are expected to arrive in November.
