Report: Sony WF-1000XM4 to Feature LDAC Support and a Larger Battery

According to a report from WinFuture, the upcoming Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS earphones are said to feature a custom chip called Sony V1. The custom chip is said to deliver more effective Active Noise Cancellation and support high-quality wireless audio via LDAC. The XM4 is also said to be Hi-Res Audio certified.

This isn’t the first time for the company to use a custom chip as it used the QN1e in the XM3 buds.

Unsurprisingly, the Sony WF-1000XM4 is reported to pack an improved battery. The buds are said to offer up to 8 hours of playback with ANC on and 12 hours with ANC turned off. Additionally, the case offers two charges on a full charge for a total of 24 hours of playback with ANC and 36 hours with it turned off.

The case charges via a USB-C port but also supports Qi wireless charging. Meanwhile, the buds themselves have an IPX4 certification making them rain-proof.

Sony is expected to launch the WF-1000XM4 with a EUR 280 price tag in Europe. This is higher than the XM3’s launch price at EUR 250.
