Sony WF-1000XM4 Promo Video Reveals Key Features, New Design

The alleged official promo video for the upcoming Sony WF-1000XM4 has surfaced online, showcasing its main features, along with a new design.

The charging case looks to have been redesigned for a more compact look. Apart from wired USB-C charging, there’s now wireless charging available. We’ve yet to find out the actual speed, but we’re hoping that it’s not minimal. There’s IPX4 certification, so you can bring these with you on workouts with less worry.

The buds themselves have also been redesigned and are powered by a custom V1 processor along with new drivers. Sony’s Active Noise Cancelling is known to be one of the best, and this one promises to take it even a step further. It supports Hi-Res Audio and 360 Reality Audio.

Then there’s DSEE EXTREME, which if my guess is correct, works the same way as they do in their Walkmans – it basically uses AI to retrieve details that are lost in compression for files that are anything that’s less than CD Quality, and then upscales to bring it closer to Hi-Res quality.

You also get some nice features from the WH-1000XM4, such as dual host connection and bone conduction microphones bolstered by precise voice pickup to improve call audio quality. Of course, it supports both Google Assistant and Alexa for convenience.

As for battery life, it’s up to 8 hours on a single charge, and 24 in total with the charging case. There’s a fast-charging feature as well, which gives you 60 minutes of use with just 5 minutes of charging.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until launch day to know the official pricing for the WF-1000XM4, but if we were to take a guess, these may come in at a slightly higher price than its predecessor. As for color options, it could just be the usual, black and cream, and white maybe later on.
