Xbox Game Pass Error 0x8007023E is an Ongoing Issue [Now Fixed]

Xbox Game Pass subscribers who are playing games on PC or Xbox Consoles are hit with an ongoing issue – Error 0x8007023E.

How does this affect players? Xbox Game Pass Subscribers who rely on the subscription to play games like Forza Horizon 5 on PC or Xbox will not be able to play games. An error wall will appear every time a game is fired up (see sample below). There are multiple reports, however, that Free+ games like Roblox, Solitaire, Forza Street, etc. can be played.

EA Play games via Xbox Game Pass are unplayable as well due to the seemingly worldwide issue. Game Pass subscribers who are given 10 hours to play new EA games like the new Battlefield 2042 (via EA Game Trials) are also affected with this error.

Players started to report the said error as early as 8:50AM (Philippine Time). At the time of this writing, Xbox Supported has not yet responded to the issue. The speculation is that this is likely an issue from Xbox’s server.

For PC Users, the error code will not fully display unless you check it on Microsoft Event View. In order to check, do the following steps:

  • Press the Windows Key
  • Type ‘Event Viewer’
  • On the left side, select Administrative Events under Custom Views
  • Find Errors with Event ID 203

This article will be updated once fix has been rolled out.
