Reports: Google Pixel Fold Display May Have Been Downgraded

According to reports, Google plans to mass-produce the components for the Google Pixel Fold starting in Q3 this year after suffering a set of delays for the past couple of years.

Meanwhile, reports from The Elec said that the Google foldable’s display might have been downgraded with a dimension of 7.69” and 5.79” diagonals. It is also said that the company may have opted for an older display tech.

Stylus support is said to also be unlikely.  Also, the foldable is said to have an advanced under-display camera for the outer screen but has a high probability of not pushing through.

Because of these rumored downgrades and adjustments, the Google Pixel may not be as powerful as one would expect, but it will surely have a lower cost. A report from November last year stated that the phone might cost USD 1,800 (around PHP 100,800).

We may expect the Google Pixel device to launch this coming October alongside the Pixel 8 series if The Elec’s timetable would be our basis. 

The Google I/O event was also a strong candidate for the reveal timing but it will already happen in May and is too early for the reveal of such an important tech from the company.
