OPPO and OnePlus Deny Alleged Europe and the UK Exit

There were reports recently that OPPO and OnePlus were set to pull out of Europe, including France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Now, both companies released their statements denying the allegations.

According to the reports, the reason behind the exit was the series of patent infringement cases with Nokia after patent agreements between OPPO and Nokia expired in 2021. The latter filed lawsuits against the former in July 2021 and won two cases which led to a ban on phone sales of the former and OnePlus in Germany.

An OPPO spokesperson stated via email that the company has big plans for 2023 in Europe and is committed to all existing European markets.

We had a great start in 2023 with the successful launches of several products in Europe and have a line-up of upcoming products for the rest of the year. As always, Oppo will continue to provide more innovative products and the best-in-class service for users moving forward.”

While the statement from the former seemed very definitive, this clarity isn’t quite the same as the statement from the latter. The company only mentioned about 2023 as opposed to teasing or revealing its long-term plans for the region. This phrasing has left more questions than answers but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens beyond 2023.
