YouTube Partner Program Eligibility Lowered

YouTube has just recently announced that the eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program will now be lowered so creators can start earning on the platform sooner.

With the update, the new eligibility for the Partner Program is now at:

  • at least 500 subscribers
  • 3 public uploads in the last 90 days
  • either 3000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days

The platform clarified in the announcement that these will allow new partners to access fan funding features like channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks, and the ability to promote products with YouTube Shopping.

Initially, this will be rolled out in the US, the UK, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. It will be introduced to all countries with YouTube Partner Program over time.

Previously, the conditions to join the program were:

  • at least 1,000 subscribers
  • 4,000 watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Youtube also expanded the YouTube Shopping affiliate program to all eligible US-based creators who are part of the Partner Program with over 20,000 subscribers.
