Introduction

When you think about Bose earbuds, a premium price tag is something that you’d always associate it with. And while that has been true for its previous products, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds is a breath of fresh air. It represents a very compelling entry in the premium true wireless earbuds market, offering a balanced combination of features and performance at only a fraction of the cost of its current flagship. To be specific, it’s PHP 10,990.

Design and Build Quality

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review (20)

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds has a pill-shaped case with a practical matte finish that resists fingerprints. While the case includes USB-C charging and wireless charging capabilities, it does exhibit some lid wobble and is somewhat bulky in pocket.

The earbuds themselves are constructed primarily from lightweight plastic with subtle branding. The IPX4 splash resistance adds a touch of durability for daily use, though the piano black interior of the case tends to attract smudges.

Comfort

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review (37)

Comfort seems to be a priority for Bose, as the QuietComfort Earbuds come with three sizes of ear tips and stability bands for a customizable fit. The lightweight construction also contributes to exceptional comfort during extended listening sessions, so much that at times, I’d forget I’m wearing them.

Connectivity

The QuietComfort Earbuds excel in connectivity, maintaining stable connections even at around 10 meters. The inclusion of Bluetooth multipoint technology enables simultaneous connection to two devices, offering seamless switching between sources. However, some users may experience occasional connection issues, though these can typically be resolved by re-seating the earbuds in the case.

Controls

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review (8)

The touch control system is highly customizable, allowing users to assign different functions to tap, double-tap, triple tap, and hold gestures on both earbuds. While this flexibility is appreciated, the absence of swipe gestures for volume control is notable, particularly given the product’s premium positioning.

Performance

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review (12)

Sound quality is characterized by enhanced bass and treble with recessed mids, delivering what I think is an engaging listening experience particularly suited to popular music genres. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make a frequency response graph as there was no option to disable wear-detection, so I would suggest that you personally try it out first, if possible.

While it lacks the CustomTune technology found in the flagship QuietComfort Earbuds II, I’d say these offer approximately 80% of the performance at a more accessible price point. As far as ANC is concerned, almost as good too, and effectively reduces environmental noise, and the transparency mode performs admirably, I’d say slightly even better than the QuietComfort Earbuds 2.

The microphone quality is sufficient for calls and online meetings, and the inclusion of a low-latency mode benefits gaming and video watching.

Software

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review

The Bose QCE app provides comprehensive control over the earbuds’ features, including EQ adjustment, touch control customization, and firmware updates. While the app enhances the overall experience, basic functionality remains available without it, maintaining accessibility for users who prefer a simpler setup.

Battery

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review (17)

The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds’ Battery performance is competitive, with Bose claiming up to 8.5 hours per charge (which is around what I got with continuous use in a mix of music and movies with ANC enabled), as well as 2.5 additional charges from the case. Having wireless charging provides welcome flexibility that even surpasses some higher-end models.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds: Verdict

At PHP 10,990, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds deliver exceptional value, offering premium features and performance at a more accessible price point than flagship models.

Despite minor shortcomings in terms of controls and occasional connectivity issues, the combination of excellent sound quality, effective ANC, comfortable design, and comprehensive feature set makes them a compelling choice for users seeking high-quality wireless earbuds without the flagship price tag.
