The report was commissioned by Google, and it details how AI has the potential to boost the economy of the country by PHP 1.8 trillion.
Google – Public First – Turbocharging Growth: The Philippines’ AI Opportunity Report
According to the study, AI is already a part of many Filipinos’ lives, with around half of the population regularly using AI tools like Google’s Gemini at least once a week. Moreover, 46% of Filipinos are optimistic about AI’s potential for the country, and 500% are optimistic about its personal impact.
Boosting Productivity and Efficiency

The report offers a deeper look at how AI can benefit everyday life. It is likely to augment the productivity of the workforce by 37% and could save the average worker up to three hours a week on administrative tasks. This, in turn, could lead to potential wage increases of over 6% and boost average worker productivity by over PHP 110,000 annually.

The study points to the role of AI in driving growth across key sectors through productivity gains. This includes:
- Wholesale and Retail – a potential PHP 410 billion increase (9% rise in gross value added or GVA)
- Finance and Insurance – a potential PHP 300 billion increase (12% GVA increase)
- Public Administration and Defense – a potential PHP 109 billion increase (9% rise in GVA)
Beyond the numbers, the report shows AI’s potential to address national challenges like cybersecurity and food security. It could help reduce the cost of cybersecurity threats by half or around PHP 180 billion. In addition, it can boost the productivity of the agricultural sector by PHP 120 billion by 2035 through precision farming and early pest detection.
The study also reveals that AI is set to create the next wave of jobs in the Philippines. These include roles in managing AI tools and performing more complex, higher-value work.
Building an AI-ready Workforce Through Upskilling

Google reaffirmed its commitment to help equip Filipinos with the AI skills needed to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven economy. The company has partnered with a range of public, private, and non-government partners over the years, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBAP).
Through these collaborations, Google has made its Google Career Certificates, including the AI Essential course. These are available to employees, civil servants, and stakeholders to help them build in-demand digital skills.
“AI is more than just a buzzword; it’s a powerful tool that can help every Filipino—from students to parents to business owners—thrive in a rapidly changing world. This report gives us a clear picture of what’s possible, and it’s up to all of us to ensure we have the skills needed to seize this incredible opportunity.” Gabby Roxas, Google Philippines and Vietnam Country Marketing Manager
Accenture was also added to the list of partners for the Google Career Certificates to help train and upskill Accenture-supported communities with essential AI skills.
