Samsung is Reported to Prioritize the Exynos 2600 Chip for the Upcoming Galaxy S26 Series

Samsung is reportedly leaning towards its in-house Exynos 2600 processor for its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, moving away from its previous reliance on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. This decision is primarily motivated by a push to control rising costs.

According to a recent report, the South Korean company’s chipset procurement expenses for its DX division surged by nearly 30% in the first half of 2025, largely due to the high cost of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chips.

By leveraging its own 2nm Exynos 2600, Samsung can drastically cut costs while maintaining competitive performance with a 10-core CPU design.

This shift not only addresses financial pressures but also strengthens Samsung’s semiconductor division and reduces its dependency on external suppliers. While challenges like lower chip yields and thermal efficiency remain, the S26 Pro and S26 Edge models are expected to feature the new Exynos chip, with the premium S26 Ultra still utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
